Physical Education
Physical Education is an essential component of our school curriculum and it is our intention that students are encouraged to maintain healthy, active lives. PE helps to support physical and mental health/well-being and embeds values such as fairness and respect. PE provides our pupils with an opportunity to be creative, competitive and face challenges as individuals or as a team. It provides situations to allow pupils to think in a different way and make decisions in response. Our PE curriculum aims to develop our pupils physical (motor) competence in a broad range of different activities, giving pupils the confidence and opportunity to engage in competitive sports/activities and inspire them to succeed and excel in physically demanding activities. It also allows for social responsibility as they take on different roles including leadership, coaching and officiating.
Through high quality PE our pupils discover their aptitudes, abilities and preferences to make informed choices about how they will get involved with lifelong physical activity. In a safe yet challenging programme of activities, we aim to support children to become confident individuals, successful learners, independent and responsible young people.
By the end of each key stage, pupils know and understand how to apply the skills and processes learnt in the following sporting areas:
- Invasion Games
- Net and Racket
- Striking and Fielding Games
- Aesthetic activities
- Athletic activities
- Outdoor and Adventurous activities

Extra-curricular activities
Extra-curricular activities are systematically planned and delivered to enable participation beyond PE lessons and provide additional time for practice, as well as the opportunity to extend and refine the knowledge which has been taught in the formal curriculum. This includes clubs outside of school hours, as well as physical activity and sport during children's playtimes.PE Long Term Curriculum
